The French Association of the Film Festival

The French Association of the Film Festival is a group of people who represent the Festival in front of financial partners, the public authorities and the media. The Board is made up of authorities of the world of cinema and public authorities who subsidize the event. The president has a renewable 3-year mandate and can appoint members of his team with the approval of the board of directors.

The Cannes Film Festival

The festival, which started on September 20, 1946, is a mark of prestige since only a few dozen films from around the world are picked for official screenings. Behind the scenes, dealmaking is happening with hundreds of other movies as filmmakers and execs hammer out financing and distribution agreements.

The Festival de Cannes is the largest international showcase of cinematic art. The festival is a great place for undiscovered filmmakers to meet. It's not like the Oscars, where anyone can submit a film, and every submission has the chance to be viewed by representatives of the international movie industry.

The environment is unlike any other because of the combination of ground-floor, first-time moviemakers and international stars. The official website of the festival states that it is an apolitical "melting pot of creativity" and that the "linguistic boundaries should fade away." The celebrities strolling down the red carpet at the main screening, the press snapping pictures at every turn, and festival guards who refuse to allow people who don't meet their standards are all positives.

Every year, the selection committee watches every single film submitted to the festival. The main body of work of the festival is the Official Selection, which consists of 50 feature films and 10 short films. The opening and closing films are shown at the Directors' Fortnight and International Critics' Week.

Short films can't last more than 15 minutes. The feature films can run for a long time. Marco Tullio Giordana's "La Meglio Gioventu" was five and a half hours long.

Out of competition films are those that the selection committee would like to see but don't fit the criteria of the competition. Un Certain Regard is often used to show first-time films, experimental techniques, and progressive trends in the work of established directors but not yet recognized in mainstream cinema. The Feature Films Jury and the Short Films and Cinefondation Jury are the official juries at the festival.

The Jury Meeting at the Domergue Villa

There are 4. The jury meetings have been held at the Domergue Villa since the mid 1990s. The mansion was designed by Jean-Gabriel Domergue in the 1930s and is open to the public.

There are 12. The price of the Golden Palm branch is about 2 million Euros. It is made of gold.

The International Film Festival

More than 30,000 professionals from all over the world are in the festival. More than 2000 people are involved in the event, including actors, stage managers, distributors, producers, reporters, and newspapers and TV stations from 75 countries. The capital of the film industry accommodates hundreds of thousands of guests and participants during the festival days. It is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance because of the high demand during the festival days.

The Lions Decode 2021 Report

The winning ideas were behind the Lions Decoded. If you missed it, you can still hear the creators of 11 pieces of Grand Prix and Gold Lion-winning work share their insights and experience, along with an exploration of the newly released 2021 LIONS Creativity Report, through LIONS Membership.

The Palais des Festivals

The cultural life at the festival is not limited to the cinema. The Palais des Festivals organizes many performances during the season from September to April. The exhibitions, cinema, painting, and sculpture are organized to complete the permanent collections of museums. The historical monuments are a part of the landscape.

The historic church of Cannes, the Palais des Festivals and its buildings

The Mediterranean climate is a big draw for people to come to Cannes. The weather is nice all year and perfect for sunbathing on the beach. The streets of the city of Cannes are lined with palm trees and flowers give visitors the impression of being in paradise.

The idyllic Port Pierre Canto is home to rows of luxury yachts docked at the harbor. The Yacht Club of Cannes organizes regattas at the Port de la Pointe Croisette. The Palais des Festivals has a lot of buildings, including auditoriums with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems.

The entrance staircase and seating of the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumiere were renovated in 2015. The foyer has been renovated and is now more spacious. The Gothic church's peaceful interior and inspiring heights of its vaulting make it a striking sight to visitors.

The church has a mix of architectural styles, including a Renaissance porch and an organ that was installed in the 19th century. The old cemetery is from the 16th century. The church was used as a hospital during the Second World War.

The church is still a place of worship. The square in front of the church is illuminated in July and becomes an outdoor venue for a classical musical festival. The Castre Museum has a great collection of Mediterranean antiquities, pre-Columbian primitive art, and 19th-century Provencal landscape paintings.

The festival will take place in May of 2021. The opening of the Festival will be different for many years, and will be on Tuesday evening for the third time. You should book early for any high-profile event.

Many owners of apartments and villas in the central district will only rent their property for the entire duration of the festival, which is why it is more economical to rent an apartment or villa. The red carpet at the Palais des Festivals is where celebrities are seen. You can join the circus of media and spectators on the red carpet by dressing up in your best Hollywood-ready glad rags.

The Real World for Film

The sentiment is obvious from the most casual stroll. It's not unusual for people to stop and talk to someone for five minutes before they have to leave for a meeting. The Marche du Film is not a film festival.

It's a free place for almost anyone to get their films in, and it's probably where China checks to acquire movies. Very good movies. The real meat and potatoes are at the film festival.

The Jury Selection Process

The juries pick films to receive specialized awards. Nadine Labaki is presiding over a jury that will pick winners from the Un Certain Regard section. The most prestigious film festival in the world is the one in France, and it has a long history of showing some of the greatest films of all time.
